A Review of Purium Kids Immune Shield

Screenshot 2018-03-06 at 9.56.45 PMFrom about September 2017 to January 2018, my daughter was constantly sick.

Whether it was the typical waterfalls of snot that got worse whenever she sneezed, or a chest-deep cough that interrupted our sleep, or fevers that came and went–for months, I stressed about her health. Nothing seemed to help. The doctors weren’t much help, either. “Kids this age can have 30-40 colds every winter,” one said nonchalantly, as if it was normal, to be expected and not fretted over.

Me? Well, I called bullshit. Nourished bodies don’t get sick. I knew that the combination of low natural vitamin D intake (because, um, winter), picky eating, and stress from her father and I’s recent separation–had all probably lowered her immune system (she started getting sick around the same time I began the move to my new place).

Her body obviously just needed a boost. Specifically, an immune system boost.

After months of trying different solutions–food, vitamins, getting outside as much as possible–I needed to try something different.

Looking through Purium’s Family nutrition section, deciding on my monthly order, I decided to finally try their Immune Shield, which can be bought on its own or as part of the Quad Pack.

It’s made of nourishing herbs–two kinds of echinacea, as well as astralagus root, elderberry fruit, licorice root, amla fruit, and shiitake mushroom, all in a vegetable glycerin/deionized water base.

I tasted it a bit myself before giving it to her, and found it rather sweet–probably because of the elderberry, licorice, and amla fruit. I commenced giving it to her, at a time when she was struggling with yet more waterfalling snot, deep-chested croup-y cough, and bags around her eyes from interrupted sleep. When we made the transition to her father, I handed the bottle over and instructed him to keep up the dosage.

By next week, her cold was gone.Screenshot 2018-03-06 at 9.57.05 PM

And it didn’t come back.

We were amazed, especially since I’ve given her some herbal remedies in the past–mostly nourishing herbal infusions like yarrow or nettle–and while they certainly didn’t do any damage, they didn’t make much of a change, either. But three times a day with the Immune Shield totally eradicated her constant sickness that we had been struggling with for months. I promptly ordered more in anticipation of that bottle running out, and am planning on ordering it every month from here on out.

Right now, she sleeps beside me. The last few days she’s had a little bit of a runny nose and a tiny dry cough in the mornings, but the week before that I had forgotten to give her dad the Immune Shield during transition. He lives in a farm community with lots of kids, all of whom are sick right now. The last two days she’s been back with me, I’ve given her the Immune Shield again at the recommended dosages and it’s already helping.

I highly recommend Immune Shield for any family whose kids struggle with common illnesses.

If you decide to take the leap, enter “gaialunasol” as your gift card code upon checkout for $50 off your first order of $100 or more. The entire Kid’s Quad Pack is an awesome choice–my daughter loves the Power Kids and MVP Kids, especially when I mix them with flax or coconut milk!
